Hello there! If you are new here, you might want to subscribe to the RSS feed for updates from Seeing Change.

If you have followed our Twitter (@seeingchange) feed over the last year, you may have noticed that we have started a Paper.li news feed for food bank information. This is one of those topics that struck very close to home for me a few years ago. And now that I have a voice to share, share I will. While I have not used a food bank for myself, it was only out of youthful stupidity. Living for three months on pre-packaged oriental noddles and juice crystals was my default. Not the best in the world. Seeing the benefitof school breakfast programs, student union foodbanks, and local food drives, I wanted to highlight a new program.

Food Bank for New York City (@FoodBank4NYC) has started a new, Virtual Food Drive.

I have setup a donation page, but you can run your own drive from the site. See how many Green Bell Peppers you c

an get for the food bank with only a $15 donation. This project caught my eye because it puts the food drive into

the hands of the community. Most food banks get the majority of their donations in the lead up to Christmas. Now

you can lead a drive to help the community at any

point of the year. I have seen couples use donations as the gift request at weddings, now try a food drive.

Help Food Bank for New York City test this great new program to help others. In these hard times, getting enough food should be the last thing on your mind.
